Respite Services

Everyone needs time to rest, reset, or handle other responsibilities. Respite provides short-term support for the individual while giving a family member or other regular unpaid caregiver planned relief.

Support for the person and the caregiver

Good respite should feel safe, respectful, and familiar. Support follows the person’s approved plan, routines, communication, preferences, and health and safety needs so the caregiver can step away with greater peace of mind.

Depending on the approved plan, respite may include

  • Personal care and daily living support

  • Meals and routine household activities

  • Medication assistance within the authorized plan and provider rules

  • Supervision and implementation of approved safety strategies

  • Community access and preferred activities

  • Support with communication, routines, and transitions

Short-term support, planned thoughtfully

The setting, schedule, tasks, and level of assistance depend on the person’s authorization and Life Choice’s current availability. Contact the team early enough to review fit and planning needs.

What happens next

A clear next step

Send the dates or pattern you are considering, the person’s city and county, and the best way to reach you. Life Choice will review the request against current availability.

Program note

Availability depends on authorization, location, staffing, and the person’s support needs. Requests with more planning time are easier to review.
