Services

Behavioral Support Services

Behavior communicates something important. Effective support begins by understanding the person, the environment, the situation, and the goal, then building strategies that are respectful, practical, and connected to everyday life.

A person-centered approach

Life Choice works with the individual and support team to understand strengths, communication, patterns, needs, environmental factors, and the outcomes that matter. Recommendations and strategies should be understandable to the people implementing them and consistent with the person’s approved plan.

The process may include

  • Reviewing relevant information and listening to the person and support team

  • Identifying strengths, communication needs, patterns, and environmental factors

  • Clarifying what the behavior may communicate or accomplish

  • Developing practical, respectful strategies tied to meaningful goals

  • Coordinating with family, guardians, providers, case managers, and other professionals

  • Monitoring information and adjusting approved strategies when appropriate

Support should protect dignity

Behavioral support should not reduce a person to a diagnosis or a difficult moment. It should strengthen understanding, communication, safety, choice, participation, and quality of life within the applicable plan and professional requirements.

Common questions

Questions about this service

Which behavioral support category does Life Choice provide?

The exact category must match Life Choice’s current certification and the person’s authorization. Contact the team so the current offering can be confirmed.

Will the support team be involved?

Collaboration is often important because strategies are used in everyday settings. The people involved, information shared, and coordination process must follow the person’s plan, permissions, and applicable requirements.
